Why I teach this

When I was a young believer, I knew the Bible's stories. I didn't know their context. I'd pull a verse out and turn it into whatever felt like a blessing or a promise to me in the moment.

That changed slowly, not all at once. Learning to read a verse in context, who wrote it, who it was written to, why, turned passages I'd read a dozen times into passages that finally made sense.

Now every verse I read gets the same five questions. Section first. Then paragraph. Then verse. Then how it fits. Then who wrote it, to whom, and why.

That's what Context Matters is. A live walkthrough of that same process, run on verses you already know, so you leave able to run it yourself.

Gary Lau1383 - Circle

I'm Gary Lau. I teach Bible readers how to read what's on the page, not just what a verse sounds like on its own. This workshop is where that process gets handed to you directly.

Got a question?

What if I'm not familiar with the context of a verse?

Don't worry. I'll explain the context to you. As you continue to grow in your Bible understanding, you'll learn more about the events of the Bible and its context.

Do I need to know Hebrew or Greek to follow along?

No. The 5-step process is easy to understand and use on any verse, on your own, every day.

Do I need 100 Great Events of the Bible after this, or is the workshop enough on its own?

If the workshop's 16 events leave you wanting the other 84, that's what 100 Great Events of the Bible is for. If you're still getting comfortable with the idea that order matters at all, sit with the workshop's timeline for a while first. The course will be just as useful whenever you're ready.

How is this different from a study Bible or reference book?

Study Bibles and reference books usually add more names and dates without ever laying out the whole picture. This workshop does the opposite: one continuous 16-event timeline, in order, with the 7 maps to place them.

Can I get a refund if it's not for me?

Sorry, no refunds.

What if I have a question?

Do I need to know a lot about the Bible going in?

If you've read the Bible and know the major names, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, Paul, but never put them in order, this is built for you. If you already teach the timeline yourself, you'll likely still walk away with a map or two you haven't seen.

Will there be time for questions?

Yes, but saved for the end. 60 minutes of teaching, then 30 minutes of open Q&A.
